WashingtonFirst Bank Officially Opens Its Doors
(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking (DISB) is pleased to announce the grand opening of WashingtonFirst Bank. A program is scheduled for 11:00 AM today. Located at 1500 K Street, NW, WashingtonFirst Bank is the first bank chartered by the District under the 1986 Banking law that created the Department of Banking and Financial Institutions. WashingtonFirst received its charter from the District on April 15, 2004. "This is a milestone for the District and an opportunity to further position the city as a financial services center,” said DISB commissioner Lawrence H. Mirel. District government leaders, including Mayor Anthony Williams, Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, and Councilmember Sharon Ambrose are expected to attend. WashingtonFirst, led by president and CEO, Shaza L. Andersen, offers both commercial and personal banking solutions, including products targeting small business and non-profits. WashingtonFirst has $9.3 million in capital, $3.3 million above the required $6 million required to maintain its DC charter.
